Ingredients to make Vietnamese nems rolls:

  • Cooked shrimp
  • Cucumber
  • ½ cup of lettuce
  • Carrot
  • 1 handful of fresh mint
  • 1 handful of fresh coriander
  • 1 handful of fresh parsley
  • 50 grams of Chinese vermicelli noodles
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • Rice paper

How to make Vietnamese nems rolls:

To start with the recipe for Vietnamese nems, we first gather all the ingredients to make the nems. The first step is to cook the rice noodles or Vermicelli Chinese noodles in plenty of boiling water with a little salt. The cooking time will depend on the manufacturer’s instructions. When they are ready, drain them and run them under cold water so they don’t stick.

For the filling we have used peeled cooked prawns, carrot strips and aromatic herbs. At the same time, we have peeled the cucumber and cut it into sticks. Put the rice paper wafers in hot water until they soften. Rice paper becomes very sticky when it dries, so you need to put it on a damp cloth or handle it with wet hands. In our case, we have put the hydrated rice paper on transparent plastic wrap. This is the time to fill the Vietnamese nem rolls with the mixture of lettuce, fresh aromatic herbs, carrot and prawns. We arrange the ingredients at one end of the wafer. Add a handful of rice noodles and begin to roll up the roll little by little with the help of the transparent film. The recipe for Vietnamese cold rolls is almost there! We finish rolling the Vietnamese nems rolls, remove the ends of the rolls and also cut them in half. You will surely love the Vietnamese rolls and you can also accompany them with satay sauce. This recipe is similar to spring rolls and Thai style spring rolls.

Vietnamese rolls and other preparations

We point out that the fried Vietnamese rolls are delicious, but already have added calories.  But if you want to do it, you just have to heat oil in a fryer and fry them. Also, you should know that the Vietnamese chicken and pork rolls are also delicious.
