Zucchini Milanese Recipe

Milanese are one of the most popular dishes in Argentina. Traditionally, we know them as a portion of meat cut equal to or thinner than a finger, coated with egg and breadcrumbs, baked or fried. However, in this case, we bring you a recipe for vegetarian milanesas so that everyone can enjoy this exquisite dish. Made with green zucchini!

You don’t have to be a vegetarian. If you are looking to lose weight, these milanesas are also ideal for you, since the zucchini provide only 15 calories per 100 grams, while meat in the same portion provides a total of 125 calories. On the other hand, if you have celiac disease, you can replace the breadcrumbs with cornmeal or chickpea flour. Ingredients to make Zucchini Milanese:

  1.  1 large long zucchini
  2.  1 egg
  3.  1 pinch of nutmeg and pepper
  4.  ½ cup of breadcrumbs
  5.  ½ cup of rolled oats
  6.  3 tablespoons of seeds

How to make Zucchini Milanese:

  • Wash and cut the squash into rectangular slices of the same size. Seal them on both sides on a hot griddle with oil, which can be sprayed or dripped.
  • Tip: do not throw away the parts of the zucchini that you do not use for these milanesas, you can use them grated in salads, boiled in soups or sautéed in a wok with vegetables.
