Vegan Tofu Nuggets Recipe

Tofu is a food that is produced from soy milk and has a consistency similar to that of cheese. In addition to its multiple nutritional properties, one of its qualities is that it has almost no flavor, so it is very well impregnated with the ingredients with which we season it, giving this immense versatility to prepare vegan tofu recipes. Ingredients to make Vegan Tofu Nuggets:

  • 150 grams of firm tofu
  • ½ cup of flour (70 grams)
  • 1 teaspoon of pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon soy/soy sauce
  • 1 dessert spoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • ¾ cup of water (180 milliliters)
  • 2 cups of breadcrumbs

How to make Vegan Tofu Nuggets:

1.Mix the flour together with all the dry ingredients, except the breadcrumbs. Remember that all the seasonings are to taste, so you can add or substitute the ones you want, the important thing is that the tofu is well seasoned.

2.Add the liquid ingredients and beat the mixture until you get a homogeneous consistency.

Trick: Add hot sauce to give the nuggets a different touch.

3.Cut the tofu into irregular pieces and marinate in the flour mixture for thiry minutes.

4.After the resting time, coat the tofu pieces with ground bread. I bought one that was already seasoned to give them even more flavor, but you can season to taste or you can bread the tofu nuggets with crushed corn flakes.

5.Coat the tofu nuggets a second time. In this step it is not necessary to leave them marinating.

6.Fry the tofu nuggets in hot oil until golden brown.

Tip: Or if you prefer, you can make the tofu nuggets in the oven by placing them on a. previously greased tray and baking them for 30 minutes at 180ºC.

7.Place the nuggets on absorbent paper to drain excess fat.

8.Enjoy vegan tofu nuggets while they’re still hot and served with ketchup, hot sauce, or your favorite dressing.
