Fauna with chickpea flour is a rich and simple preparation that is prepared with very few ingredients: chickpea flour, oil, water and salt. It is a dish from Genoa, Italy that Genoese immigrants introduced into Uruguayan and Argentine gastronomy in the 20th century. In the city of Buenos Aires, fauna is sold in many traditional pizzerias and it is very common to eat it accompanied by a slice of pizza. But this time I bring you to my recipe for vegan fauna so that you can enjoy it together with me.
Ingredients to make vegan Fauna:
- 200 grams of chickpea flour
- 600 milliliters of water (2½ cups)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 pinch of pepper
- 1 splash of olive oil
- 1 onion
How to make vegan fauna:
1.Line a baking tray with parchment paper and grease it with a little olive oil.
2.In a bowl, mix the chickpea flour with the salt and pepper. Add the water little by little, stirring until all the ingredients are well integrated.
3.Preheat the oven to 180-200 degrees.
4.Pour the batter into the greased pan. Julienne the onion and place it on top. Bake the vegan fauna until golden brown and dry.
5.Cut the vegan fauna into portions and serve it as a starter or with homemade pizza if you prefer.
