Uruguayan Chivito Recipe

The Chivito is a beef sandwich, typical of Uruguay, to which all kinds of flavors are added and where you can apply your imagination according to the taste of each one. If you want to know its most traditional version, follow this easy recipe step by step and learn how to prepare the authentic Uruguayan chivito.

Ingredients to make Uruguayan Chivito:

  • 1 unit of hamburger bun
  • 1 beef fillet
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of Mayonnaise
  • 1 lettuce leaf
  • 1 unit of Tomato
  • 1 unit of Onion
  • 1 slice of Bacon
  • 1 unit of boiled egg
  • 1 handful of olive
  • 1 unit of red pepper
  • 1 slice of cooked ham
  • 1 handful of mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup of French fries

How to make Uruguayan Chivito:

To start the preparation of the chivito, cook the meat on the grill with a little oil and reserve. Try to make it a fine cut, remember to add a pinch of salt and reserve.

In the same skillet, sauté the red pepper strips and the bacon. Next, fry the onion until it is transparent. To assemble the Uruguayan chivito, place mayonnaise to taste, lettuce, tomato, sliced ​​hard-boiled egg and olives on the base of the bread. On top of this goes the meat with the onion, bacon and pepper. Then, to cover the mountain of the beef sandwich, place the ham and mozzarella cheese as a sheet.

Finally, and without covering, take the goat to the oven for a few minutes until the mozzarella melts. Use gratin mode or about 180º C. Enjoy the Uruguayan chivito by placing the lid on the sandwich and accompanying it with chips.
