Ingredients to make Tuna Vigil Empanadas:

  • 1 unit of puff pastry
  • 100 milliliters of béchamel sauce
  • 1 can of grated tuna
  • 1 unit of Egg
  • 1 unit of red onion
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of black pepper

How to make Tuna Vigil Empanadas:

The first step to make the recipe for empanadas de Vigilia is to prepare the ingredients. In a bowl add the tuna and finely chopped onion. Remember that if you use canned tuna you must drain it first. Add the béchamel sauce or white sauce of your choice, salt, black pepper and a pinch of garlic paste. Mix very well the ingredients of the filling of the Argentine empanadas.

Tip: You can use asparagus sauce if you want to replace the béchamel sauce.

On a clean work table, spread out the puff pastry well. You can buy this dough already made or prepare it yourself following the steps of the easy puff pastry recipe. Then, with the mold you want, cut the dough to form the Vigil empanadas. You can make large or appetizer-type empanadas, that is to the taste of each diner. When you have all the tapas of the Argentine empanadas cut, you can now fill them with the tuna preparation very carefully. Cover the Vigilia empanadas and close the puff pastry with the tip of a fork. Beat the egg as if you were making an omelet and with the help of a kitchen brush, paint each of the empanadas in order to give the preparation a shine.

Tip: Preheat the oven to 180ºC.

Bake the tuna empanadas for 20-25 minutes, or until you notice that the puff pastry is golden and crispy on the outside. When they are ready, let them warm up and serve the Vigilia empanadas as an appetizer or main course, remember the size is to the liking of each diner. You can prepare fried fish to accompany and Easter cookies for dessert.
