Tuna tart with cheese recipe

FoodsDiary By FoodsDiary

The salty tuna tart is a very popular recipe around the world, especially in Argentina. A good amount of fried onion and bell pepper as a base, give it its characteristic flavor. In addition, the sweetness that the vegetables acquire when sautéing them is the perfect contrast with the salty and soft taste of the tuna and cheese. Tuna is so healthy that you will want to incorporate it into your diet! And, for those who are not used to eating fish, they should know that its canned version is very practical, because we do not need a trusted fishmonger or fill our house with strong odors when cooking it. On the other hand, cakes are always an ideal dish to make as a family, as well as for those who live alone, since freezing this recipe solves the week’s meals.

Ingredients to make Tuna Tart with Cheese:

  • 240 grams of natural tuna loins
  • 1 medium onion
  • ½ red bell pepper
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup of salsa and plum tomatoes
  • ¼ cup white wine
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 pinch of ground chili
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin
  • 1 tart or pascualina dough
  • 1 tablespoon oats, breadcrumbs or polenta
  • 1 teaspoon of oil
  • 1 pinch of cheese to taste

How to make Tuna Cheesecake:

  1. To get started with the cheesy tuna pie recipe, first peel, chop and sauté the onion in 1 teaspoon of oil until translucent.
  2. Then, add the washed and chopped bell pepper without the ribs or seeds. And, when the vegetables start to brown and dry out, add 1 tablespoon of hot water and turn the heat down to medium. Repeat this process as many times as you wants, keeping in mind that the more times you do it, the sweeter it will be and the better its digestion will be, avoiding gas and bloating pain.
  3. When the vegetables are ready, remove them and pour the tomato sauce, the chopped tomatoes and the white wine into the same cooking bottom. Raise the heat to the maximum and let the alcohol evaporate while the tomato cooks. This will take about 5-10 minutes on medium heat.
  4. Integrate the sautéed vegetables with the tomato, tuna and cheese. Season to taste. We recommend ground chili, paprika, cumin and pepper. Once you have tasted your tuna pascualina filling, it is warm and you liked it, add the egg and integrate it. What do you think of this tuna tart with egg?
  5. Cover an ovenproof mold with the dough for the classic tuna pie and fill it. Next, make the closure that you like best and cook it in the preheated oven for about 35 minutes or until the dough are golden.
  6. Tip: if you want, you can make this tuna and onion tart with dough as a lid, as well as paint it with egg.
  7. Wait until it is warm so as not to burn yourself and enjoy this delicious and quick tuna tart.
