- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 pinch of Pepper
How to make tuna cake with puff pastry:
- Ready all the ingredients to check that you have them all and you can start making the tuna cake with puff pastry.
- Once you have everything ready, start the recipe by washing and chopping both the white onion and the tomato into small squares. Look at the photograph to do it in the same way.
- Sauté the onion over medium heat with hot sunflower oil until it becomes transparent. If you prefer, you can use olive oil and even butter, to your liking!
- When you see that the onion becomes transparent, add the tomato and add salt and pepper to taste. Stir the preparation with a spatula or wooden spoon to avoid altering the flavors of the tuna cake with puff pastry and fry for a couple more minutes.
- Add the tuna and lower the temperature to cook the filling over low heat. Sauté for a few more minutes, until you see that it is ready.
- We are going to prepare tuna cakes with individual puff pastry, but if you prefer you can choose to make a single cake. In this way, cover the molds with the puff pastry in such a way that the edge comes out completely and you can close the savory tart once it is filled.
- Now, add the milk or cream to the filling that you still have in the pan and keep stirring to integrate the ingredients. To give an extra touch of flavor to the tuna cake with puff pastry, add a little ground dried thyme, or any other spice that you like, such as rosemary, oregano…
- Fill the molds with the tuna, onion and tomato mixture until they are completely filled. If you are making a larger tuna cake, you will need to pour all of the mixture in and distribute it evenly.
- Close each of the molds by covering the top with the edges of puff pastry that you left. If you make a single cake, you should use one sheet of puff pastry for the base and another for the surface, and seal the edges by applying pressure with the tips of a fork.
- Prick with a fork to prevent the dough from rising and brush with beaten egg. Then, bake the tuna cakes with puff pastry for 20 minutes at 180ºC, or until you see that they are ready.
- Serve the tuna pie with puff pastry hot or cold, as you like!
