Tuna, cream cheese and little else… you think you can’t do anything original with these ingredients, because we teach you otherwise. The tuna and cheese balls are very easy to make, it won’t even take 15 minutes and they are so versatile that you can use them to eat on their own, hot or cold, as an appetizer or even to fill a sandwich.

Go ahead with this recipe with canned tuna and surprise everyone with something very original and few ingredients, plus children will love it.

Ingredients to make Tuna and Cheese Balls:

  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese
  • 1 cup of breadcrumbs
  • 1 tuna slice
  • 1 pinch of Salt and Pepper

How to make Tuna and Cheese Balls:

  1. The first step to make this kind of easy tuna croquettes will be to prepare all the ingredients. If you follow me, you will know that I really like spicy and that I always include it in my recipes, so in this case the use of pepper or cayenne pepper is also optional.
  2. Use a medium size bowl and mix the cream cheese with the tuna. Season to taste with salt and the seasonings that you like the most and stir everything until it forms a uniform paste.
  3. Remember to drain the liquid from the tuna can well.
  4. With the help of two spoons, or with your hands if you’re brave, shape the tuna mixture into balls. You will see that the dough is very soft and does not have enough consistency, but don’t worry about it, because it will be fixed with the breadcrumbs.
  5. Prepare the batter station, to do this, beat the egg in a bowl and place enough breadcrumbs in another separate bowl. You can add some finely chopped fresh parsley to the beaten egg to give the tuna balls an extra touch
  6. Pass the tuna and cheese balls, one by one, first through the egg and then through the bread. You will see how they take consistency and you can knead better to shape them. Repeat the process to make a double batter and let it rest in the freezer for 10-15 minutes.
  7. Trick: Resting in the freezer is optional, if you don’t have time to cook, you can coat the balls and go directly to the next step.
  8. Heat a frying pan with enough oil to fry and once hot, fry the tuna croquettes making sure that they are well browned on all sides. Drain on a plate with absorbent paper to remove excess oil.
  9. Serve the tuna and cheese balls and enjoy! You can serve this easy recipe as a main course for children accompanied with a little coleslaw or baked potatoes with cheese. These tuna croquettes can be eaten cold and are also ideal for serving as canapés for parties.
