Ingredients to make Thai Green Papaya Salad – With Kombi Seaweed:

  • 1 green papaya
  • ½ cup of kombi seaweed
  • 1 Carrot
  • 1 red pepper
  • 6 tablespoons of Peanut
  • 1 pinch of sesame seeds
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • ½ chili
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 5 tablespoons of soy sauce

How to make Thai Green Papaya Salad – With Kombi Seaweed:

The first step is to prepare the algae for consumption. To do this, soak the algae for 2-3 hours. Next, place them in a colander and wash them well under running water. In a pot, boil a large amount of water and cook the algae in boiling water for 3 minutes. Put them back in the colander and wash them again. Now the algae are ready for consumption. If they come in wide strips you can cut them into narrower strips with kitchen scissors. To continue with the vegetarian Thai salad, grate the carrot and cut the bell pepper julienne or into small pieces. Take the papaya and with a peeler peel one of its ends to the middle or the part you think you are going to use depending on the size of the papaya. Next, make many longitudinal cuts with a sharp knife on the peeled part and then make a perpendicular cut to obtain papaya strips.

To prepare the vinaigrette, crush the garlic, sugar, soy sauce, lemon juice and chili in a mortar or pestle (the amount depends on whether you like it spicy or not). In a bowl mix the papaya strips, the cut vegetables, the peanuts, the seaweed and the sesame seeds.  Dress the Thai green papaya salad with the vinaigrette and serve. As you can see, it is a very simple and quick vegetarian Thai salad recipe, perfect to accompany a dish of sautéed seaman with vegetables or a vegan potato cake.
