Ingredients to make Vegan Textured Soy Nuggets:

  • 2 cups of textured soy meat
  • to coat
  • 3 cups of breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup non-dairy milk
  • to season
  • ½ cup of flour (70 grams)
  • ½ cup of water (120 milliliters)
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 pinch of cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon mustard
  • 3 tablespoons of ketchup or ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

How to make Vegan Textured Soy Nuggets:

1.Chopping the garlic finely will be the first step in preparing the textured soy vegan nuggets.

2.Next, hydrate and soak the textured soybeans in freshly boiled water without dressing.

3.After a couple of minutes, drain and squeeze the textured soy. Make sure to squeeze it well to remove excess water.

4.In a bowl, mix the textured soybeans with the ingredients for seasoning, except the water. This way, the vegan nuggets will be much tastier.

5.Gradually add cold water to the mixture, but only enough to thicken the dough without making it completely solid. Once everything is mixed, let the dough rest for 30 minutes and form the textured soy nuggets.

6.Pass the vegan nuggets through the milk, which can be coconut milk or some other vegetable milk.

7.Coat the nuggets with breadcrumbs, squeeze them a bit and repeat the process one more time. Thus, the vegan soy nuggets will be very crispy.

8.Place the nuggets on a baking sheet, drizzle with foil and bake for 30 minutes at 180ºC or until golden brown. Remember that the cooking time will depend on the power and brand of your oven. If you prefer, you can fry the nuggets instead of baking them, as indicated in the vegan tofu nuggets recipe.

Tip: Flip the nuggets halfway through cooking so they brown evenly on both sides.

9.Enjoy the vegan textured soy nuggets fresh from the oven, or cool to room temperature and store in a resalable plastic bag. These can last up to 2 weeks in the fridge, making them the ideal snack for school or work. You can accompany them with barbecue sauce or the one you like the most.
