Ingredients to make Tamarind Chamoyada:

  1. 400 grams of tamarind in pods
  2. Stevia or sweetener to taste
  3. ½ cup chamoy
  4. juice of two lemons
  5. ½ cup chili powder
  6. ice to taste
  7. Tamarind sweets to decorate to taste

How to make Tamarind Chamoyada:

  • The preparation of the tamarind chamoyada begins by cleaning the pods, it does not matter if they have a little shell left. Then, put them in a pot with enough water and let them boil for at least 10 minutes. This step is important so that the tamarind softens and makes it easier to blend.
  • When the tamarind is ready, remove it from the heat and let it cool completely. If you want to speed up the process, remove the water and add a little cold water. Then, take the pods to the blender, add stevia or sweetener to taste and blend for 3 minutes or until a kind of very light paste is left.
  • Since the tamarind with its seeds was blended, you must pass it through a strainer to remove the ground seeds, since they can be difficult to digest.
  • Frost your glasses with a little of the same tamarind concentrate or with lemon juice and chili powder. Also add chamoy to taste inside each glass.

  • To continue with the tamarind chamoyada recipe, place ice to taste in the blender, the tamarind concentrate, the juice of two lemons and a little chamoy as well. Blend everything until the ice is smooth. The amount of ice will depend on how frozen you want the chamoyada.
  • Serve in frosted glasses, decorate with tamarind sweets to taste and the tamarind chamoyada will be ready to enjoy.
