Stewed Spinach Recipe

If you don’t know how to make a really tasty stewed spinach, don’t miss this really easy and quick recipe that we teach you because in just 30 minutes you can have these wonderful stewed spinach with egg, typical of the community of Andalusia, Spain. Ingredients to make Stewed Spinach:

  • ½ kilogram frozen spinach
  • 3 slices of bread
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1 onion
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 glass of water
  • 1 tablet of concentrated poultry broth
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of cumin
  • 1 pinch of food coloring
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 splash of vinegar

How to make Stewed Spinach:

Gather the ingredients for the stewed spinach first and then place 1 raw garlic, a pinch of salt and the other two whole fried garlic cloves together with the fried bread slices in a mortar.

Fill a glass with water, pour a little into the mortar and mash everything well. Then add the rest of the water inside and this will be the minced for the spinach stew.

Peel the onion, chop it and poach it in a pan over high heat. Add the thawed spinach to the pan along with a splash of vinegar and stir.

Tip: You can also use fresh spinach but you will have to clean it very well and cut it beforehand.

Add the minced meat, bay leaf, salt and spices to taste along with the concentrated stock cube, and cook the stewed spinach for about 15 minutes over high heat.

When the liquid has been completely consumed and they are beginning to fry, add the eggs, cracking them directly on top and gently stir them throughout the spinach stew.

Once they are set, serve the freshly cooked egg-stewed spinach with a few slices of homemade sourdough -free bread or homemade baguette bread.
