Ingredients to make Stewed Salmon:

  • 1 lemon
  • 1 onion
  • 4 potatoes
  • 50 grams of Almonds
  • ½ kilogram of fresh salmon
  • ½ teaspoon sweet paprika
  • ¾ liter of water
  • grated emmental cheese
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 pinch of sweet paprika
  • 1 red bell pepper (optional)

How to make Braised Salmon:

  1. The first thing to do to prepare this stewed salmon is to take a pot and cook the already peeled potatoes with a few slices of lemon. When the cooking is finished, drain them and reserve them for later.
  2. In a pot, cook the bones and the head of the fresh salmon with 3/4 of a liter of water, for 15 minutes. This will be the broth that we will use for the salmon stew.
  3. To continue with the salmon and potato stew, put a good jet of oil in a casserole and when it is hot, add the finely chopped onion to brown. Then add a glass of water and the lemon juice we had.
  4. Tip: You can also cut and fry 1 red pepper together with the onion.
  5. Then add 1 bay leaf to the onion, the sweet paprika and the broth that we made from parts of the salmon. Add the almonds and cook all the salmon stew for 15 minutes over medium heat without covering.
  6. Tip: You can add toasted almonds instead of raw so that your salmon stewed with vegetables tastes better.
  7. After 15 minutes, add the potatoes to the salmon stew and leave them on low heat for 10 more minutes so that they take on the entire flavor. Then, add the salmon made in slices or large pieces and let it cook for 5 more minutes with all the stew.
  8. Finally, add the grated Emmental cheese and cook the salmon stew for 1 more minute turn off the heat and it is ready to serve. We can now enjoy our stewed salmon!
