Stewed Lentils with Chicken Recipe

Cook together some delicious stewed lentils with chicken, an ideal recipe for the coldest days of winter when we need foods that return heat to the body.

We will make this lentil stew with a very simple base sauce and we will also add chopped chicken to give it more consistency, avoid using the classic sausage of these dishes to prevent it from being so heavy.

Ingredients to make Braised Lentils with Chicken:

  • 500 grams of Chicken
  • 300 grams of dry Castilian lentils
  • 1 onion
  • ½ green pepper
  • ½ red bell pepper
  • 1 ripe tomato
  • 3 potatoes
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 jet of olive oil

How to make Lentil Stew with Chicken:

1.We start by washing all the vegetables to make our recipe for stewed lentils.

2.When we have everything very clean, we proceed to finely chop the vegetables. We cut the onion, the peppers and the garlic into small squares while we are going to grate the tomato.

3.Wash and cut the potatoes into medium pieces, as seen in the photo, as if you were going to prepare partitas braves. Remember to peel them first.

4.With all the ingredients prepared, we start cooking the base sauce. We put a pot to heat with olive oil and when it is hot, we add all the vegetables except the tomato.

5.When we see that the onion begins to change color and the pepper is tender, we add the grated tomato and let it cook for about 10 more minutes.

Then, we remove all the soffit and reserve aside.

6.In the same pot, with the oil used to cook the soffit, add the meat and brown it well. While we seal the chopped chicken, you can crush the soffit, in case you don’t like to feel the pieces of the vegetables.

If you want to change the chicken you can also use turkey to make this lentil stew.

7.When the meat is sealed on all sides, we add the soffit again, either whole or in sauce, in case you have decided to shred it.

8.After stirring well, add the lentils along with the bay leaves. Stir everything so that the lentils are impregnated with the flavor of the sauce.

9.Add enough water, cover and let them cook for about 60 minutes. When our stewed lentils are about 10 minutes away from being done, we taste them and adjust the salt, add the potatoes and leave them for another 10 minutes.

10.After this time, turn off the heat and leave to rest for another 10 minutes. After the minutes of rest you can serve yourself a good plate of lentils stewed with chicken, a dish to recharge your batteries on winter days.
