Stewed Chickpeas Recipe

Ingredients to make Stewed Chickpeas:

  • 300 grams of Chickpeas (hydrated 12 hours before in water)
  • 1 unit of Carrot
  • 4 units of ripe tomato
  • 2 units of white onion
  • 2 branches of long or green onion
  • 1 jet of olive oil
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh parsley

How to make Stewed Chickpeas:

1.To start making our stewed chickpeas recipe, the first step is to pre-list all the ingredients.

2.Wash the tomatoes and onions. Finely chop and place in a saucepan over medium heat with a little olive oil. Sauté the vegetables well for about 5 minutes.

3.Add the finely chopped garlic cloves to our sauce to flavor the stewed chickpeas.

4.Add salt and pepper to taste and mix well.

5.Add the chickpeas to the preparation and cover with enough water. If you want you can use a pressure cooker and the cooking will be faster, if you do it in a normal pot you should leave the preparation for approximately 40 minutes.

6.Once our preparation of stewed chickpeas takes 20 minutes to cook, add the grated carrot. Then, after 40 minutes of cooking, check the texture of the chickpeas, they should be tender. Turn off the heat and let the preparation cool

7.Remove half of the broth once cold and process so that the carrot integrates well with the stewed chickpeas.

8.Serve the braised chickpeas sprinkling finely chopped parsley on top.
