Quail eggs are a delicious source of vitamins and minerals so don’t be fooled by their small presentation. These types of eggs are usually cooked and are used in many dishes, such as quail egg salad, but the truth is that appetizers are their forte. At this article we show you a quick and easy appetizer so take note and learn to prepare the skewers with quail eggs, give them your personal touch and enjoy.
Ingredients to make Skewers with quail eggs:
- 10 units of quail eggs
- 2 slices of Gouda Cheese
- 2 slices of sausage
- 5 units of cherry tomato
- Extras to taste
- 2 tablespoons of ketchup sauce
- 1 tablespoon of Mayonnaise
- ½ teaspoon hot sauce
- 1 pinch of dried oregano
How to make Skewers with quail eggs:
- The first thing we need to do to prepare these quail egg appetizers is to cook the eggs. To do this, put them in a saucepan with water until it boils for about 4-5 minutes.
- Next, remove the shell and reserve the cooked quail eggs. Don’t worry if one breaks, it will also serve to prepare these original skewers.
- Tip: To make it easier to peel the quail eggs, when the 5 minutes of cooking have passed, remove them from the hot water and let them rest for a few minutes in cold water, with ice if possible.
- Next, cut all the extra ingredients into circles roughly the same size as the eggs. You can use a pastry cutter or a lid to cut the shapes more easily.
- I have used Gouda cheese, salami and potato omelet, but you can use cooked ham, bacon, olives or anything else you can think of.
- Cut the cooked quail eggs in half. Cut the cherry tomatoes into not very thick slices, between 3 and 4 slices should come out of each tomato.
- Use some wooden sticks and assemble the skewers to your liking. Place the egg base and go putting the rest of the ingredients in the center, as if it were a hamburger. Then finish with the other half of the quail egg and voila.
- This type of quail egg skewers is always good to accompany them with a sauce. I have made a spicy pink sauce by mixing the ketchup with the mayonnaise, the hot pepper and the oregano. Easy and delicious.
- Present the quail egg skewers as an elegant appetizer at the next family gathering or party, or better yet, for Christmas dinner!
