Shrimp Ceviche Recipe

Ceviche is a dish known worldwide, it consists of ‘cooking’ food with a marinade of lemon juice and red or purple onion. In this case we teach you how to prepare a simple, but delicious, shrimp ceviche dish, go ahead and try this delicacy.

Ingredients to make Shrimp Ceviche:

  • 1 kilogram of shrimp
  • ½ unit of Tomato
  • ½ unit of Onion (red)
  • 1 tablespoon of tomato sauce (ketchup)
  • 1 tablespoon of Mustard
  • 10 units of Creole lemons (small)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of pepper, to taste
  • 1 bunch of Cilantro finely chopped to taste

How to make Shrimp Ceviche:

If you are going to prepare this ceviche recipe with fresh shrimp, the first thing you should do is put a saucepan with plenty of water and bring it to a boil. When it breaks the boil, add the shrimp and let them cook for about 15-30 seconds. Then take out and drain.

Apart, grate the tomato and reserve. Finely chop the onion and let it macerate with the juice of half the lemons. Also finely chop the cilantro. After a few minutes, mix the tomato and coriander with the onion and season with a pinch of salt and pepper. If you want a spicy ceviche, you can add a point of Tabasco or spicy sauce in this step.

To finish, peel the shrimp and mix with the previous marinade. Add the juice of the rest of the lemons as well and correct the flavor with salt if necessary. Let stand for at least 15 minutes for the lemon acid to take effect. Serve the shrimp ceviche with some crackers or homemade chips such as sweet potato chips or the typical plantain chips.
