It is a typical dish of the Pacific coasts of South America, its main ingredient is fish meat and an acidic food, either lemon, orange or lime, there are many varieties of ceviche’s such as Peruvian, Creole, with tiger milk among others, they also vary its ingredients by prawns, shrimps, octopus, fish or other types of shellfish. This shrimp ceviche recipe is a proper Creole ceviche and very easy to prepare.
Ingredients to make Shrimp Ceviche:
- 500 grams of large prawns
- 1 unit of white onion
- 1 package of crackers
- 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise sauce
- 2 tablespoons of tomato sauce
- 1 pinch of salt pepper
- 3 units of Lemon
How to make Shrimp Ceviche:
1.The first thing you should do is get all the ingredients ready.
2.Clean the prawns by removing the shells and removing the top vein. You do this by cutting a line through the top of the shrimp with a very fine knife and removing the impurities from above.
3.The white onion must be cut into very fine squares and add a cup of boiling water, this in order to remove its acidity. Leave the onion like this until you are ready to use it.
4.To continue with our prawn ceviche we must cook the shellfish in a little water for 3 minutes until they change color and turn orange. After 3 minutes, remove them and place them in a separate container.
5.Add the drained onion to the prawns, add salt and pepper to taste and the juice of 2 lemons. Mix and let stand for 10 minutes.
6.Add the tomato sauce, the mayonnaise and mix very well, at this point you must rectify the flavor very well with salt and pepper.
