Salvadoran Stewed Meat Recipe

Ingredients to make Salvadoran Stewed Meat:

  • Pound and a half of beef in small squares
  • 2 tablespoons of oil
  • 1 1/2 cups of water
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 carrots cut into cubes
  • 4 large potatoes cut into cubes
  • 1/2 cup of wine
  • 1/2 tbsp. achiote (you can use paprika)
  • Salt and pepper

How to make Salvadoran Stewed Meat:

  1. Brown the meat in the hot oil, then season with salt, paprika and pepper;
  2. add water until meat is covered.
  3. Cover and cook over high heat until it boils.
  4. Lower the heat and cook another 15 minutes; add the tomato sauce, carrots, onion and cook a little more.
  5. Add the wine and let it boil for about five minutes to lose the alcohol.
  6. Accompany with white rice and fresh salad
