Rice recipe with Arabic lentils

Ingredients to make Rice with Arabic lentils:

  • 1 lentils
  • 1 cup of rice
  • 4 medium or large onions

How to make Rice with Arabic lentils:

  1. Rinse the lentils and make sure they do not have pebbles or other particles. Then cover them with about four cups of water and bring to a boil. Do not add salt to the cooking water.
  2. Meanwhile, also rinse the cup of rice.
  3. About 10-15 minutes after it starts to boil, drain the lentils, but do not throw away the cooking water. The lentils should be a little soft, but with the core still firm.
  4. Return the lentils to the pot and add the rice.
  5. Of the lentil cooking water, measure the amount you need to cook the rice (about two to three). If you lack, add more water. Also add salt and spices. Take to the fire and cook like normal rice.
  6. Now, chop the onions into quires or thin strips.
  7. Now prepare the caramelized onions. For this, in three tablespoons of olive oil, fry the seasoned onions. Also add the sugar.
  8. Be patient. The onions should brown nicely and caramelize, but this takes time. Also, you need to pay attention to prevent them from burning.
  9. When the onions are ready, add them to the already made Arabic rice with lentils and mix. Serve with fresh vegetables.
