German gastronomy has delicious typical recipes, among them is sauerkraut. This is done by fermenting the cabbage with salt water, in this case we have used red cabbage but white cabbage is generally used. Sauerkraut is an excellent companion for everyday meals.
Ingredients to make Red Cabbage Sauerkraut:
- 200 grams of red cabbage
- 150 grams of salt
- 100 grams of pineapple
How to make Red Cabbage Sauerkraut:
- Before making this recipe, the first step is to get all the ingredients ready.
- Cut the cabbage finely and add the salt, mix everything very well.
- Let the cabbage rest and begin to drain with your hands until all the water comes out.
- Add the drained cabbage into a glass container and press it to the bottom, add the drained salt water and cover the glass container with plastic wrap and a lid.
- Let the sauerkraut ferment for 2 to 3 weeks at room temperature.
- After this time, sweeten the sauerkraut by sautéing in a pan with small pieces of pineapple and cooking it for 5 minutes.
