Wrap tortillas are made primarily from wheat flour, which makes them similar to flour tortillas and pita bread. They are used, as their name implies, to cook wraps filled with an infinite variety of flavors. If you have been interested in how to make tortillas for homemade wraps, we present you an extremely economical and simple recipe. Keep reading and discover the step by step.

Ingredients to make wrap tortillas:

  • 2½ cups of wheat flour (350 grams)
  • 1 cup of water (240 milliliters)
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 10 milliliters of vegetable oil

How to make wrap tortillas:

1.As a first step to make wrap tortillas, we will prepare the necessary ingredients.

2.Mix the flour with the salt in a bowl and add the water little by little, mixing with a spoon until a dough forms.

3.Transfer the dough to a flat, clean surface covered with a little flour. We need a little, only what is necessary to obtain a smooth texture. If you feel that the wrap tortilla dough is too dry, you can add one more tablespoon of water or one teaspoon of vegetable oil.

4.We divide the dough into six portions and roll them against the table to form balls. The larger the ball, the thicker the wrap tortilla will be.

5.With the help of a roller, we extend the ball until we obtain a circle of approximately 25 centimeters in diameter. Do not forget to lightly flour the surface where you work to prevent the dough from sticking.

6.The trick to cooking wrap tortillas is the temperature of the Comal or pan. It is not necessary to spray with oil, you just have to leave it on high heat for 7 minutes. Once it is very hot, lower the heat a little to prevent the dough from burning and place the tortilla, taking care not to burn yourself.

7.As soon as we see that bubbles form, we turn it over and let it brown to taste, although it is recommended not to toast them too much so that they do not break when rolling the wraps.

8.As soon as the wrap tortillas are ready, we will keep them wrapped in a clean and dry cloth so that they stay warm when serving, for example to make a delicious dish of chicken wraps with mushrooms.
