Recipe of Lentils with Green Beans and Ham

When the coldest months arrive, we feel like eating warm stews such as stews. On this occasion we have prepared a lentil stew with green beans and ham, very healthy and nutritious.

Ingredients to make Lentils with green beans and ham:

  • 250 grams of Lentils
  • 80 grams of green beans
  • 1 unit of Tomato
  • 1 unit of green pepper
  • ½ unit of Onion
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • 2 units of Carrot
  • 1 unit of Zucchini
  • 1 potato unit
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of chopped Serrano ham
  • 1 liter of water

How to make Lentils with Green Beans and Ham:

1.We gather all the ingredients to make the lentils with green beans and ham.

For this recipe we have soaked the lentils for 1 hour before preparing the dish so that they hydrate and take less time to cook.

2.In a pot we make a sauce with the onion, the pepper and the tomato. Let them brown for 12-14 minutes and add a little salt, ground black pepper and ground cumin.

3.Meanwhile, we prepare the rest of the vegetables. Peel the potato, carrots and zucchini. Cut the green beans and remove the side strings if necessary. Cut the zucchini and carrot into slices, and the potato into wedges.

4.Beat the soffit in the blender until there are no lumps. You can also leave the vegetables in pieces but I prefer to beat it as it gives the stew an extra thickness.

5.In the same pot in which we have made the sauce, put a little oil and add the lentils, potatoes and carrots. Pour the mixture that we have beaten, add a little water to cover and season with salt and pepper.

Let the lentils cook for 12 minutes.

6.Add the green beans to the lentil stew and cook for another 5 minutes. After that time, we also add the zucchini and cook for 4 more minutes.

7.Finally, we add the Serrano ham cut into cubes just before serving. You can enjoy this stew alone, although in some countries it is usually accompanied with white rice.
