Ingredients to make Pasta Salad with Tuna and Onion:

  • 200 grams of pasta
  • 1 can of prickly pear
  • 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise or pink sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cottage cheese
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 small carrot grated
  • 50 grams of chopped green olives
  • 3 tablespoons of parsley
  • Salt and olive oil to taste

How to make Tuna and Onion Pasta Salad:

First, we put the pasta to boil. Then, fry the onion and garlic in a pan with a little hot olive oil. We can also add these raw ingredients to the pasta salad with tuna, but it is much tastier this way. Remove from heat when these ingredients are ready and strain the pasta once cooked. Next, we prepare the rest of the ingredients. Thus, we chop the parsley, the olives and grate the carrot.

Trick: We can replace the parsley with oregano, since both spices add flavor to the salad.

In a container, place the cooked pasta, the fried onion and garlic, the parsley, the carrot, the cottage cheese, the olives and the mayonnaise, and mix everything. If we want, we can substitute the mayonnaise for pink sauce, since this pasta salad with tuna and onion lends itself to both options. Likewise, we can make our own pink sauce by mixing mayonnaise with ketchup. When we have all the ingredients for the pasta salad with tuna and onion, we incorporate; add a splash of olive oil and salt to taste. We already have the dish ready!  Now that you know how to make pasta salad with tuna and onion, go ahead and try it, experiment with adding ingredients. This recipe is ideal to take to the beach, to work in a Tupperware or for any time. If we are hungry, we can accompany it with a grilled fish fillet or baked chicken breast.
