Recipe for fruit salad with yogurt for children

The chocolate salad or ambrosia fruit salad is a classic dessert ideal for large celebrations, despite its simplicity. In Mexico, the chocolate salad is a dessert that is consumed mostly during the Christmas festivities, a delight for the little ones! However, this sweet is not exclusive to the holiday season, but can be consumed during birthdays, Thanksgiving Day and any other special celebration. This sweet is very versatile, as it lends itself to many culinary reinterpretations, most of them fortunately. This dessert is also traditional in the southern part of the United States (Texas, Oklahoma or Alabama) where it is known as ambrosia fruit salad offers you a lighter version of the elegant candy, the dessert of the great festivities, the favorite of adults and children: the fruit salad with yogurt for children.  A dream dessert!

Ingredients to make Fruit Salad with Yogurt for Kids:

  • 400 grams of forest fruits (fresh or in syrup)
  • 1 can of peach or peach in syrup
  • 450 grams of yogurt
  • 1 can of condensed milk
  • 50 grams of grated coconut (½ cup)
  • 100 grams of almonds (any dried fruit)
  • 400 grams of marshmallows (clouds or marshmallow)

How to make Fruit Salad with Yogurt for Kids:

Pour the condensed milk and yogurt into a bowl and mix until both ingredients are integrated. There are recipes that use: evaporated milk, sour milk, Greek yogurt, whipped cream, almond milk, among others. Add all the fruits to the mixture and stir carefully.  Previously wash the fresh fruits carefully. On the other hand, drain the fruits in syrup, and reserve the fruit and the syrup separately. You can use fruits in syrup, only fresh fruits or combine both. What fruits? The ones of your preference.

Add the rest of the ingredients to the mixture: the marshmallows, the raisins, the coconut and the almonds. Mix until all the ingredients of the fruit salad with yogurt for children is integrated, being very careful not to crumble the fruit. If the mixture is too thick you can lighten it with the reserved syrup.

Tip: If you prefer, you can omit the coconut, nuts or raisins. Also, you can put the dried fruit of your choice.
