Recipe for Chicken Flautas in Green Sauce

The flautas are a traditional dish of Mexican cuisine, specifically from the state of Sinaloa, belonging to the group of foods called “Mexican snacks “, being one of the favorite dishes of diners throughout the country. At this article, we present a variant of the traditional  chicken flutes, but this time bathed in a delicious green sauce, giving it a touch of itching and making the dish juicy.

Ingredients to make Chicken Flautas in Green Sauce:

  • 16 pieces of corn tortilla
  • ½ piece of chicken breast
  • ½ kilogram of green tomato
  • ½ kilogram of red tomato
  • 1 piece of onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 2 pieces of green jalapeno pepper
  • ½ cup of oil
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of pepper
  • 1 pinch of coriander

How to make Chicken Flautas in Green Sauce:

In the following image we present the ingredients to use to make the Mexican chicken flutes. For the green sauce, we start by putting the green tomato, a clove of garlic, a piece of onion and the green jalapeño peppers in a saucepan with boiling water.

Meanwhile, put the chicken breast in the same way in a saucepan with boiling water along with a clove of garlic, a piece of onion and add a pinch of salt. When the ingredients of our Mexican sauce are perfectly cooked, we add them to the blender along with a pinch of salt.

When we have our green sauce blended, to make it delicious, add a teaspoon of oil in a saucepan, let it heat up and add the sauce to season. Once it is ready we reserve it for a moment. On the other hand, we begin to chop the ingredients with which we will cook the chicken that will fill the delicious Mexican flautas, such as tomato and onion.

When the chicken breast is perfectly cooked, remove it from the heat and shred it to make a stew. To begin with the preparation of the chicken stew, we fry the chopped onion.

Followed by the chopped onion, add the chopped red tomato and continue with the preparation of the filling for the flutes.

Add the shredded chicken and incorporate everything and, without stopping moving, wait a moment until the ingredients are ready.

And to finish with the chicken stew we add a touch of chopped cilantro, which will give our Mexican flautas a great flavor. Of course, do not forget to season the stew.

When we have our chicken stew ready, we take the corn tortillas, fill them with a little of this preparation and form the flutes.

Heat the oil in a frying pan and, when hot, add the flutes to fry them and give them this crunchy texture.

And that’s it!
