So from this article, we propose an easy recipe for spirals of ham and cheese, a very quick appetizer to improvise if we have some guests that we did not count on. As you will see in this step-by-step recipe, these salty puff pastries will please both adults and children. We are waiting your comments!

Ingredients to make Ham and Cheese Puff Pastry Spirals:

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • 10 slices of York Ham
  • 10 slices of cheese to melt
  • 1 unit of Egg

How to make Ham and Cheese Puff Pastry Spirals:

In the first instance, we will prepare the ingredients that we need for the puff pastry spirals. Puff pastry is used for both savory and sweet recipes and if you want to make the dough yourself, you can follow the easy puff pastry recipe step by step. Roll out the puff pastry sheet. On this occasion it is not necessary to resort to the roller; it will be enough to stain your hands with flour and push the edges of the puff pastry. Now, we place the cheese slices on the puff pastry. Try to leave margins of a couple of centimeters at each end so that when closing the spiral it can be crushed properly. Then we do the same with the York ham, also leaving the required margins. Cut the strips with a knife about 2 centimeters, following the line marked by the ends and roll the spirals carefully.

Place them on a tray, previously lined with parchment paper, and preheat the oven to 200º C. Before introducing the ham and cheese puff pastry spirals, brush them with the beaten egg. This fulfills a double function: to brown the final result and to better close the ends of the rolls.

Then cook the ham and cheese puff pastry spirals in the oven until you see them brown and the cheese melts slightly. Once baked, let them cool for a couple of minutes before removing them from the paper. We present them and let’s eat!
