Prickly pear battered with chia seeds

In this recipe we bring some fresh tuna loins marinated and coated with chia seeds. Let’s remember that tuna is a fish rich in Omega-3 oils and beneficial fats for health, which is why it is the perfect complement to chia seeds, since it helps with weight loss and provides multiple benefits. Let’s see the step by step of the recipe that we show you to prepare the tuna in chia batter.

Ingredients to make Battered Tuna with Chia Seeds:

  • 1 cup chick pea flour
  • 4 fresh tuna steaks
  • 1 teaspoon of Parsley
  • 2 units of Lemons
  • 1 cup of orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 tablespoons of chia seeds
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of black pepper
  • 1 pinch of garlic paste

How to make Battered Tuna with Chia Seeds:

  1. The first step to make our battered tuna recipe is to prepare the ingredients.
  2. The first thing we are going to do is marinate the tuna steaks. Then, in a bowl add the orange juice and thyme to taste.
  3. Now we are going to make the tuna batter with chia. To do this, take a plate and mix the chickpea flour with the chia seeds.
  4. Add the fresh parsley and garlic to taste to the tuna. Take the tuna steaks to the fridge or refrigerator to marinate for 30 minutes.
  5. Let’s get our ingredients ready to coat the tuna. Add salt to each of the fillets.
  6. We must impregnate the tuna steaks very well with the marinade and pass them through the batter as shown in the photograph.
  7. Bring a frying pan over medium heat with a little olive oil and, once hot, fry the battered tuna fillets. It is important that we control the cooking temperature to prevent the batter from burning.
  8. Once the steaks are cooked on both sides, add the marinade liquid and turn off the heat. In this way the flavors remain in the preparation. If you don’t want to add the marinade, you can skip this step without any problem, I do it to avoid discarding the marinade.
  9. Serve the tuna fillets in chia batter, decorating with a little chia seeds on top and with lemon rinds in case the diner wants to add to taste. Prepare the sauce that you like the most to accompany the preparation, such as yogurt and cucumber sauce or barbecue sauce.
