If you follow a vegan diet, we want you to know that it is possible to make a delicious potato omelette recipe without eggs very similar to the original. To do this, we will replace the egg with chickpea flour and water. In this way, we will be able to give it a very similar color and a very rich flavor. If you consume it freshly made, it will even be difficult for you to distinguish that it is vegan!

If you are vegan, intolerant to eggs or simply want to reduce animal products in your diet, in this article we teach you how to make a potato omelette without eggs. It will be delicious and you will have a fabulous result! If you prefer not to use chickpea flour, we will also give you other alternatives later.

Ingredients to make potato omelette without egg (vegan):

  • 800 grams of potatoes
  • 1 splash of olive oil
  • 16 tablespoons of chickpea flour
  • 16 tablespoons of water
  • 1 pinch of salt

How to make eggless potato omelette (vegan):

Peel the potatoes and wash them. Cut them into thin slices and, only when you are about to fry them, add salt to taste.

In a large saucepan or frying pan, add a good splash of olive oil and bring to a boil. When the oil is hot, add the sliced ​​potatoes. Fry them turning them from time to time so that they fry evenly, it will take about 20 minutes. The potatoes have to be tender.

Trick: If you prefer the tortilla with onion, peel half an onion and cut into small pieces. Add them to the oil at the same time as the potatoes.

While the potatoes are frying, put the level tablespoons of chickpea flour with the tablespoons of water and a little salt in a large bowl. Integrate well so that there are no lumps. Once the potatoes are fried, with the help of a slotted spoon, remove the potatoes, drain the excess oil and pour into the bowl with the mixture of chickpea flour and water. Mix enough so that the potatoes of your vegan tortilla are well smeared.

Pour 2 tablespoons of the oil you used to fry the potatoes into a smaller pan. Place the mixture in it to make the tortilla. Cook the first layer for 5 minutes. Flip and cook another 5 minutes. Serve right away. Cut your eggless potato omelette into portions and serve alone or accompanied by a vegan one.
