Pinolillo

Ingredients to make Pinolillo:

  • 2 tablespoons of cornmeal
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 teaspoons of sugar or honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 pinch of ground cloves
  • 1 cup skim milk
  • 1 cup of cold water

How to make Pinolillo:

  1. Heat a small skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the cornmeal. Heat for 2 minutes, stirring constantly, until lightly toasted.
  3. Transfer to a blender. Add cocoa powder, sugar or honey, cinnamon, pepper, cloves, milk, and water. Grind until a sparkling pinol remains.
  4. Serve the Nicaraguan pinolilloin mugs.
