Pinole Atole

Ingredients to make Atole de pinole:

  1. 1½ liters of water
  2. 200 grams of piloncillo
  3. 1 cup of pinole
  4. ½ teaspoon salt
  5. 125 grams of chocolate in tablet or powder
  6. 1 cup of cold water

How to make Pinole Atole:

  • To begin the preparation of the pinole atole, add the two liters of water in a large pot and add the piloncillo, the chocolate and the half teaspoon of salt.
  • Tip: The salt will intensify the flavors. You can also use the chocolate of your choice.
  • Heat over medium heat until the piloncillo and chocolate manage to dissolve and integrate into the water, then lower the heat and let it begin to boil.
  • In another container, mix the cup of cold water with the cup of pinole and stir until they are well integrated. Try to stir well to avoid lumps.
  • When the sweetened water that you have on the stove is already beginning to boil, pour in the diluted pinole and with the help of a balloon whisk stir to integrate all the ingredients.
  • Let the pinole atole with water boil for a few minutes without stopping stirring until it takes on a thick but light consistency. At this point, you can taste and adjust the flavor, if you want it to be sweeter add a little sugar.
