- 1 medium onion
- ½ cup cold water
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- salt and pepper to taste
- 5 liters of water
How to make Pelmeni:
- Start the easy pelmeni recipe by placing the sifted flour, a pinch of salt, an egg, half a cup of cold water and 2 tablespoons of oil in a bowl, mix very well with your hands or with a mixer until you get smooth dough without lumps.
- Tip: if you notice the dough is very dry, add just a little more water, it should be elastic and not sticky.
- After kneading for at least 10 minutes, cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rest in the refrigerator for a minimum of 20 minutes.
- While the dough remains, prepare the filling. First you must finely chop the onion, it should be as fine as possible, and you can pass it through a food processor or blender.
- Then mix the onion with the ground meat, a pinch of salt and a little pepper powder, then reserve.
- When the dough has rested, divide it into about 3 or 4 portions to make it easier to stretch. Start rolling it out with the help of a rolling pin until you get a thickness of about 2 to 3 mm, then cut circles of about 5 cm with a cookie cutter or a glass.
- Then fill each circle with the ground and seasoned meat, you must leave enough space to be able to fold the dough and bring the edges together, repeat the process until you finish all the dough. Then it goes to a container and leads to the freezer for a minimum of 30 minutes. The homemade pelmeni recipe is almost there!
