Peas with ham and tomato recipe

There are a large number of recipes with peas, but peas with ham are one of the most typical in Spain.  we have added a homemade tomato sauce and we have some peas with ham and tomato left to lick your fingers. You will love this plate!

Ingredients to make Peas with ham and tomato:

  • 300 grams of frozen peas
  • 6 slices of Serrano ham
  • 3 units of ripe tomato
  • 1 piece of yellow pepper
  • ½ unit of chives
  • 1 splash of olive oil
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of white sugar

How to make Peas with ham and tomato:

  1. We gather all the ingredients to prepare the peas with ham and tomato.
  2. For this recipe I used frozen peas that I had at home, but if you have fresh peas they are also ideal.
  3. You can clean and cook them yourself without any problem.
  4. Cut the chives into small squares and sauté them in a pan with a little oil.
  5. Let cook for a couple of minutes.
  6. Add the pepper cut the same size as the onion and let it cook for 3-4 minutes.
  7. Grate the tomatoes and add them to the sauce.
  8.  Add a little salt, ground black pepper and sugar. Let the tomato fry for 8-10 minutes over low heat.
  9. Add the peas, add a little more salt if necessary and let them cook for 3-4 minutes.
  10. Remove the pan from the heat and place the slices of ham on top so that they roast a bit.
  11. The peas with ham and tomato can be accompanied by a fried egg with caramelized onion.
