Pea Burgers Recipe

This rich dish is ideal for cooking when you don’t have time, a quick and easy recipe that you can freeze in your refrigerator and defrost at mealtime.

The split pea burgers are made without eggs and with legumes, making it suitable for vegetarians, including vegans. In addition, among its ingredients include: peas and dried tomatoes. Both provide a lot of fiber and, in the case of tomatoes, powerful antioxidants, prevent premature aging.

Ingredients to make Pea Burgers:

  • 300 grams of peas
  • 7 dried tomatoes
  • 3 tablespoons of rice
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • thyme, pepper and cumin

How to make Pea Burgers:

1.Start preparing your vegan pea burgers by cooking the legumes. To do this, soak them in the refrigerator for 12 hours, change the water and boil them until they are tender (approximately 10 minutes). Strain them and place them in a tall container that allows you to use the blender or the container of a food processor.

Tip: we advise you to soak and cook legumes in quantity. You can then freeze them in food-safe bags for 3 months.

2.While the vegetables are cooking, hydrate the dried tomatoes in hot water or tea. Take them to the same container as the peas and mix it.

3.Lastly, add the seasonings you want. We recommend garlic, thyme, pepper and cumin.

Tip: you can cook the garlic by covering it in milk: boiled or microwaved, this will provide a milder flavor.

4.Process the ingredients as much as you like, keeping in mind that the more you process, the less you will chew and distinguish the ingredients.

If you finally think that you need more consistency to be able to put them together, you can add a few tablespoons of cooked rice and process again. In this way, you will have pea and rice burgers at your disposal.

5.With the help of your hands and a spoon, form the burgers. Seal them in a pan on both sides with cooking spray.

You can also shape it into a nugget. Perhaps this way is more interesting for your children and you can incorporate legumes and vegetables into their diets.

And that’s it; you already have your pea burgers ready. You could accompany them with a fresh salad or pumpkin puree.

Trick: by not having any raw ingredients, when sealing we only want the hamburger to be crispier and tastier. You can cook them in a pan, griddle or oven.
