Ingredients to make Nutella Tamales:

• 500 grams of corn dough

• ½ cup of condensed milk (120 grams)

• 1 teaspoon baking powder

• 1½ cups warm milk

• 400 grams of nutella or hazelnut jam

• 1 pinch of salt

• 200 grams of vegetable shortening or butter

• 30 leaves for tamale

How to make Nutella Tamales:

To start with the Nutella tamales recipe, you must first soak the tamale leaves in hot water for approximately 30 minutes so that they soften. To make the dough for the Nutella tamales, in a bowl mix the corn dough, the baking powder and the vegetable shortening.

Add the condensed milk and little by little the warm milk, mix again to integrate all the ingredients. To finish the dough, add the Nutella and a pinch of salt, mix one last time until you get a smooth, light and moist texture. With the dough ready, it’s time to assemble the tamales. Choose a tamale leaf, spread it out with your hands and add a portion of dough, distribute well on the leaf without reaching the ends, wrap and close well, place in a steamer pot. With the quantities mentioned in the recipe you can make 20-25 tamales depending on the size.

If you have some tamale leaves left over, cover the tamales in the pot with the same leaves or with a damp cloth or a plastic bag, cook for about 1 hour.

After the cooking time, let it cool down a bit and serve these delicious sweet chocolate tamales. Tell us in the comments what you think of this Mexican recipe. For chocolate lovers, it will surely be the favorite recipe to eat during the next holidays.

Nutella sweet tamales and other toppings

As you have seen in this recipe, the Nutella was added to the dough, but you can leave the dough without the Nutella and add it as a filling. Also, you can incorporate with some chocolate chips or hazelnut chocolate pieces. We also point out that the Nutella and Oreo tamales are delicious. Choose the topping that you like the most! It is true that you may think that there is a lot of sugar between Nutella and condensed milk, however, for sweet tamales it is recommended that they have extra sweetness, because when they are cooked in the steamer, the same sweetness due to the steam is considerably reduced.
