Nopales stuffed with ham and cheese recipe

One of the most used vegetables for gastronomy in Mexico is nopales, which is a very popular vegetable since countless dishes can be prepared with them. In addition, it is a super accessible food in terms of its economic value; it is a vegetable with high amounts of fiber, which are great aids for the digestive system. It also contains chlorophyll, which is a compound that helps us detoxify our bodies, among many other functions.

Ingredients to make Nopales stuffed with ham and cheese:

  • 8 pieces of fresh Nepal
  • 150 grams of string cheese
  • 8 slices of turkey ham
  • 2 pieces of Egg
  • 1 cup of breadcrumbs
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of Pepper

How to make Nopales stuffed with ham and cheese:

  1. In the following image you can see the ingredients that we will need to prepare these rich nopales stuffed with ham and cheese.
  2. We are going to start this Mexican recipe by placing the nopales on the griddle or Comal so that they roast, we add a pinch of salt and a pinch of pepper.
  3. Once ready and well cooked, we place two slices of ham and a little cheese on top and immediately place the second cactus on top of the cheese; we repeat this until we have the entire cactus stuffed.
  4. Now we take our nopales stuffed with cheese and fill them with a little beaten egg, as you can see in the following image.
  5. After passing them through the beaten egg, we take them to the ground bread and cover them perfectly with it.
  6. Once ready, we take the nopales stuffed with ham and cheese to a pan with previously heated oil and let them fry until the breadcrumbs look golden.
  7. Once golden, remove them from the oil, place them on an absorbent surface and, once the excess oil has been removed, we can serve.
  8. Accompany the nopales stuffed with ham and cheese with little refried beans. Good appetite!
