Ingredients to make Mexican Cocada:
- 500 grams of fresh grated coconut
- 1 cup of milk (240 milliliters)
- ½ cup of sugar (100 grams)
- ¾ cup of water (180 milliliters)
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 shot of rum (optional)
- 1 cinnamon stick
How to make Mexican Cocada:
- To make the Mexican cocada recipe, first in a pot heat the water with the sugar and the cinnamon stick, let it boil.
- In a bowl, mix the egg yolks with the milk until they are fully integrated.
- Remove the pot with water and sugar from the heat, also remove the cinnamon stick. Then, let it cool slightly and pour the beaten eggs with the milk, mix very well.
- Add the grated coconut and a pinch of rum, the latter is optional, but it adds a rich flavor.
- Next, return to the heat and mix everything very well until you get a thick texture. It will take about 5-8 minutes.
- Transfer the mixture to a container or glass refractory, spread well and press to compact. Then, take the cocada sweet in the oven at 180 ° C for approximately 30 minutes.
