Mercian Salad Recipe

Typical salad from Murcia, also called Mojo. It is regular in both winter and summer. In summer natural tomato is used and in winter we can use canned tomato. Traditionally it is served cold and in a large salad bowl so that each diner serves their share at the table.  Keep reading and learn to prepare this traditional Mercian salad.

Ingredients to make Mercian Salad:

  • 4 pieces of pear tomato
  • 1 piece of onion
  • 100 grams of Tuna
  • 3 pieces of Eggs
  • 150 grams of black olives
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 splash of Vinegar
  • 1 jet of oil

How to make Mercian Salad:

Before starting we will prepare all the ingredients, with the eggs already cooked previously and cooled.

We start by cutting the tomatoes into small pieces and put them in the salad bowl. If the skin of the tomato is thin, it will not be necessary to peel them; otherwise it is advisable to do so (for my taste). We continue chopping half an onion, which we will add to the tomato. We also add the tuna to continue with the preparation of the Mercian salad. Chop the cold eggs (we will have cooked them at least an hour before).

Add the whole black olives or slices, as you like. Of course, for comfort when eating it, it is advisable that they be boned.

Finally, add the salt, oil and vinegar and stir everything well so that the ingredients are perfectly mixed.

And here the final result, as you can see, is a very simple and light tomato salad, ideal for a healthy diet.
