Lettuce salad with orange and walnuts recipe

With the idea of bringing healthy recipes to the table this holiday season, this time I teach you how to prepare a simple salad but with healthy and delicious ingredients that will not be out of place in any Christmas meal and your guests will appreciate it as a prelude to more forceful dishes. Of course, this salad is also suitable for any other time of the year, since its ingredients are readily available.

Ingredients to make Lettuce Salad with Orange and Walnuts:

  • 1 romaine lettuce
  • 2 oranges
  • 8 supreme sticks
  • 90 grams of pitted black olives
  • 6 walnuts
  • 1 can of sweet corn
  • 1 handful of fried onion
  • 1 splash of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of minced garlic

How to make Lettuce Salad with Orange and Walnuts:

Cut the lettuce and wash it very well. We centrifuge it and reserve it. If we don’t have a centrifuge at home, we put it in a colander and leave it to release the water well and we can continue with the preparation of the orange and walnut salad.

Peel the oranges and try not to leave much white part. We cut them into cubes and put them in a wide source. Nothing happens if they release juice, in fact, it’s better because the lettuce and orange salad will be richer. Drain the corn, cut the supreme into small pieces and add them to the bowl as well.

Drain the olives and cut them into slices. We put them in the salad bowl and continue with the preparation of the orange salad.

Add the well-drained lettuce, season with oil, salt and a touch of ground garlic and stir well, trying not to destroy the supreme sticks.

Before serving, we open the nuts and break them into large pieces with our hands. We put them on the surface of the lettuce and orange salad along with a handful of fried onion.  Serve immediately to prevent them from getting mushy.

We can present the lettuce salad with orange and walnuts in a bowl and serve it to our guests or distribute it in individual bowls that we will serve to each diner. As we said, it is an ideal healthy starter to predict a more forceful dish, such as stuffed loin or ribs baked with honey. Bon Appetite!
