The lentil Dahl recipe is a creamy preparation typical of India, which is basically made up of lentils (they can be yellow, green or red) and can be served as a main dish or as an accompaniment to another. Let’s see the ingredients of this recipe and the step by step that we show you to easily prepare this delicious lentil Dahl.

Ingredients to make Lentil Dahl:

  • 300 grams of cooked lentils
  • 2 units of white onion
  • 3 units of red tomatoes
  • 1 pinch of garlic powder
  • 5 grams of fresh ginger
  • 1 pinch of Cumin
  • 10 grams of fresh coriander
  • 1 pinch of sesame
  • 1 liter of vegetable broth
  • 2 teaspoons of butter or ghee
  • 1 pinch of red pepper
  • 1 pinch of salt

How to make Lentil Dahl:

1.The first step to make our Indian recipe is to pre-list the ingredients. It should be noted that ghee is a type of clarified butter, widely used in Indian cuisine. So if you can’t find it, you can use traditional butter.

2.Take a deep pot over medium heat with a little olive or sunflower oil, add the diced onion and tomato. Sauté for a few minutes.

3.Add the butter or ghee if you got it.

4.Add salt, black pepper and garlic powder to taste.

5.Add the fresh ginger and red pepper for a hint of flavor to the lentil Dahl.

6.Add the previously cooked lentils and the liter of vegetable broth that we have reserved. Leave it preserved for 20 minutes, or until you notice that the recipe takes on a creamy texture. Add the cumin powder.

7.Once you see that the lentil Dahl has a creamy texture as shown in the photo, turn off the heat and add the finely chopped coriander. Mix the recipe well and it will be ready to serve.

8.Serve the Indian lentil Dahl recipe as a main dish or a side to any dish, such as vegetable samosas. If you wish, you can add more spices that are of your preference, such as mustard seeds or coriander, etc. that are part of this meal.
