Ingredients to make Lemon Glaze:

  • 200 grams of icing sugar (common sugar also works)
  • 1 lemon

How to make Lemon Glaze:

  1. Grate half a lemon and squeeze it to get all the juice.
  2. The lemon zest is to decorate the cake once covered with the frosting, so if you don’t want to do this you don’t have to grate it.
  3. Place the icing sugar in a container and add about 3 teaspoons of lemon juice.
  4.  Mix with a spoon and add more teaspoons of juice, but little by little and integrating it to prevent the lemon glaze from being too liquid.
  5.  If the lemon is very large, you may have extra juice, while if it is small, you may need to squeeze half a lemon more.
  6. To make lemon glaze with common sugar, you simply have to beat the common sugar with an electric hand mixer or in a blender, so it will pulverize and you will obtain your own homemade icing sugar.
  7. Trick: Sift the sugar to remove lumps.
  8. You will know that the icing is ready when the sugar is completely dissolved and it looks like a slightly thick cream, which by dropping a spoonful forms a thick thread.
  9. If you want it thicker to better decorate your cookies, add a little more sugar or leave it in the fridge for a few minutes, since it hardens when cold.
  10. Trick: Another effective trick to know if the lemon glaze is ready is to pass the spoon and see if it leaves a marked line. If so, that’s it.
  11. And ready! You just have to drop it on the sweet you want to decorate.
  12.  As we have said, this is a perfect lemon glaze for cakes, but also for puddings, any type of cake, muffins and cookies.
  13.  It hardens quite quickly, but you can always speed up this process by leaving the candy covered in the fridge.
  14. Drop the lemon zest on top and you will have a delicious and beautiful cake.
  15. Tip: The cake, pudding or cookie must be completely cold to be able to decorate it with the icing.
