Kids Fish Nuggets Recipe

Sometimes the little ones in the house do not want to eat things that are healthy and nutritious because of their taste, especially when it comes to vegetables or fish. For this reason, homemade fish nuggets are a very good option since they can be prepared in a few minutes and you can choose the ingredients to your liking. In this case, I am going to make some fish nuggets for children with a white fish but you can also use a blue one if you prefer.

Ingredients to make Kids Fish Nuggets:

  • 2 white fish fillets
  • ½ piece of onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 sprig of parsley
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1 piece of black pepper
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup flour (70 grams)
  • ½ cup of milk (120 milliliters)

How to make Kids Fish Nuggets:

  1. Pulse the fish in a food processor along with the mustard, salt, and pepper to taste.
  2. Tip: In this recipe we are using tilapia fillet, but you can change it for any other white or blue fish.
  3. Add the finely chopped onion, garlic and parsley together with the ground fish.
  4. Trick: If you prefer, you can change the vegetables or add something else that the children like, such as celery, pepper, coriander, carrot, etc…
  5. Add some breadcrumbs and mix well to form a paste.
  6. Flour your hands, take some of the paste and give thefish croquettes the shape you prefer.
  7. Trick: You can make fish sticks, or if you prefer, spread the paste and form the nuggets using a cookie cutter.
  8. To coat the homemade fish nuggets, pass them in the flour, then in the milk and finally in the breadcrumbs.
  9. Pass the fish nuggets through the milk and breadcrumbs again. Repeat these steps until you finish coating them all.
  10. Tip: You can refrigerate the nuggets for 20 minutes before coating them, and also before frying them. This way you will prevent them from losing their shape.
  11. Heat enough oil and fry the fish nuggets until they are golden brown on each side, taking care not to burn them. Once they are ready, place them on absorbent paper to drain the excess oil.
  12. Tip: You can also bake the fish nuggets so they don’t contain as much oil.
  13. Fish nuggets for kids taste best when they are warm and if you accompany them with homemade barbecue sauce or sweet and sour sauce, they are a real delight! Remember that you can use this recipe both to enrich everyday food and also to serve as an appetizer at children’s parties.
