  • 500 milliliters of whipping cream or heavy cream

How to make homemade buttermilk or buttermilk:

  1. Put the very cold cream in the blender glass and begin to mount it with the electric rods.
  2. Tip: The cream used must have at least 35% fat.
  3. Continue mounting the cream with the rods even if you see that it is fully assembled, since it is about cutting the cream.
  4.  You will see that the cream begins to look like cottage cheese.
  5. From that aspect, suddenly, you will see that part becomes liquid and the other part continues with the appearance of cottage cheese.
  6. Then, it will be when you have to stop beating, since you have already obtained your homemade buttermilk.
  7. Put a strainer on top of a bowl and, in turn, on top of it a clean gauze. Strain the preparation so that the solid part remains in the cheesecloth and the liquid part in the bowl.
  8. Close the gauze and squeeze it well so that the solid part releases all the buttermilk.
  9. Do not throw away the solid part, it is a delicious homemade butter that will be delicious on your toast, croissants or simply for cooking.
  10.  Put the butter in one or more small molds and reserve it in the fridge. Consume in a maximum time of 4 days.
  11. The liquid part will be your buttermilk. You can keep it in the fridge for a maximum of 4 days. You can also freeze it for 4 months.
