Homemade Beef Soup Recipe

Ingredients to make Homemade Beef Soup:

  • 1 kilo of beef cane bones
  • for broth 350 grams of beef
  • half a kilo grams of thick rice noodles
  • 150 grams of sliced ​​veal butt
  • 1 piece of ginger cut into slices
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • two and a half liters of water
  • 6 black peppercorns
  • 6 coriander seeds
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 spice cloves
  • 2 tablespoons of fish sauce
  • 3 finely chopped spring onions
  • 1 medium onion cut into thin slices
  • To season use:
  • chopped red chili
  • a few fresh purple basil leaves
  • bean sprouts
  • chopped onion
  • lime wedges and

How to make Homemade Beef Soup:

  1. Bring the meat for the broth, the bones, the ginger, the salt and the water to a boil in a saucepan.
  2. Lower the heat to a minimum and let it simmer uncovered for 4 hours; add the peppercorns, cloves, cinnamon, coriander seeds and fish sauce, cook for a further 40 minutes.
  3. Remove meat to broth and set aside.
  4. Strain the broth and reserve the liquid, discard the spices and bones and pour the liquid back into the saucepan.
  5. When the meat for broth is lukewarm, cut it into thin fillets.
  6. Before serving, pour the noodles into a saucepan with boiling water and cook for about 10 seconds to prevent them from falling apart and softening; drain and divide into bowls.
  7. Bring broth to a boil; put in each bowl with the noodles the cooked meat as well as the raw one.
  8. Pour the broth on top and spread the onion slices and spring onion.
