Ingredients to make Ham, Cheese and Tomato Tart:

• 1 sheet of short crust pastry

• 250 grams of cooked ham

• 200 grams of mozzarella cheese or similar

• 100 grams of grated emmental cheese or similar

• 2 Tomatoes

• 3 eggs

• 1 pinch of salt

• 1 pinch of pepper

• 1 handful of cherry tomatoes to decorate

How to make Ham, Cheese and Tomato Tart:

The first thing we must do to start preparing the ham, cheese and tomato tart is to get the ingredients ready. To do this, we cut the cooked ham into small cubes of the same size. Then, peel the tomatoes and chop in the same way.

Take a bowl, beat the eggs and mix them with the grated cheese. Then, we chop the mozzarella to taste or grate it, and integrate it with the beaten eggs. We add salt and pepper.

Now, to start forming the ham, cheese and tomato tart, we take the mold, grease it with oil or cover the base and walls with the short crust pastry, and remove the excess dough. We can buy this dough already made in any supermarket or make it ourselves following the simple steps of this recipe for short crust pastry without butter.

Prick the base with a fork and place some type of weight on top, such as chickpeas or any other legume. Once this is done, we bake the base of the ham, cheese and tomato tart at 180ºC for approximately 20-25 minutes. After this time, we remove the weight and bake it for 5 more minutes.

You should keep in mind that depending on whether the dough is homemade or not, the time may vary, so we recommend you keep an eye on the oven.

Remove the base from the oven and let it cool a bit. Meanwhile, we take the opportunity to cut the cherry tomatoes into slices of the desired thickness or simply in half. This is optional, since we do it to improve the presentation of the homemade ham and cheese cake.

Pour the ham, cheese and tomato filling over the short crust pastry and bake the salty tart at 180ºC until it is completely curdled. Depending on the type of oven it may take more or less time, but in general it is usually around 30 minutes. Clever! We serve the ham, cheese and tomato tart as a starter during a meal with friends or family.
