Ham and Cheese Waffles Recipe

We commonly known waffles as a type of dessert, golden and crunchy, prepared with sweet wheat flour, which results in a small flat pancake with a characteristic and fun shape, which we can dress with any type of jam, syrup or sweet ice cream.

But we can also prepare these famous salty waffles, giving them a different touch. Well, this time we bring you an easy recipe for salty waffles, which can be turned from a delicious dessert to a delicious appetizer with which you will surprise more than one of your guests.

Ingredients to make Ham and Cheese Waffles:

  • 4 bars of mozzarella cheese of 1.5 cm. thick
  • 8 slices of turkey ham
  • 1 branch of mint
  • 1 cup of ground bread
  • 1 cup of wheat flour (140 grams)
  • 2 pieces of Egg

How to make Ham and Cheese Waffles:

In the following image you can see the ingredients that we will need to prepare these delicious ham and cheese waffles. To start we take the two bars of cheese and divide them into four rectangles of the same size each, we also take the slices of ham and fold them in half and then in half again. Now we take one of the rectangles of cheese and place a slice of ham on top, and on top of it, place a mint leaf. Then we take another rectangle of cheese and put it on the mint leaf. We should have something similar to a sandwich formed with the rectangles of cheese. Now we take our little cheese sandwich and cover it completely with the wheat flour. Immediately we take it to the container where we place the beaten eggs and bathe it with the egg. Finally, we cover it completely with the ground bread, ensuring that the entire surface has this ingredient.  To finish the ham and cheese waffles, we take the waffle maker and close it little by little while the cheese melts. We must be on the lookout since they do not need much cooking time and if we overdo the cheese it will melt too much and our salty waffles will not acquire the corresponding shape but will become liquid. Once we observe that the exterior looks crispy and golden, we remove the ham and cheese waffles very carefully from the waffle maker, cut the edges to define them in a rectangular shape and that’s it, this delicious appetizer is ready to be enjoyed. You can accompany the salty waffles with a little ketchup sauce, they are delicious.
