Ingredients to make Gallo pinto:
- 2 cups of cooked rice (350 grams)
- 1 cup of cooked beans
- 1 unit of onion
- 1 unit of sweet chili
- 1 branch of Cilantro
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 pinch of oregano
- 2 tablespoons of Salsa Lozano
- 1 pinch of salt
How to make Gallo pinto:
- To prepare this typical Costa Rican rice dish, the first thing you have to do is chop everything finely. Remember that the beans and rice must already be cooked so you can use the ones from the day before or that you have left over from some other preparation.
- Heat a little oil in a frying pan and lightly fry the onion, garlic and sweet chili. When the onion begins to turn transparent, add the beans and stir everything with the Lozano sauce.
- Tip: For this Costa Rican recipe you can use black or red beans.
- When everything is hot and mixed, add the rice. Continue stirring so that the ingredients are distributed evenly.
- Lastly, add the coriander and oregano. Mix well and correct the seasoning if necessary.
- Serve the Gallo pinto with its traditional sides, scrambled eggs and plantain slices. This dish, also well known in Nicaragua, can be served at mealtime. Bon Appetite
