Frijoles Con Carne Spicy Recipe (or chili beans)

I love spicy foods. Whenever I find cans of chili beans, I throw a few in the cart and give them away sooner rather than later because I can’t resist using them. we prepare these red beans with ground beef and red peppers, a perfect recipe to fill breads or corn tortillas as well as to dip or eat with a fork accompanied by some nachos with cheese! Bring out your hottest side and dare with these spicy beans with meat.

Ingredients to make Spicy Frijoles con carne (or chili beans):

  • 400 grams of spicy beans (they come in a can and there are several brands)
  • 500 grams of minced beef
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 red bell peppers
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire or Perris sauce
  • 1 pinch of ground black pepper
  • 1 pinch of hot paprika
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 splash of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 splash of white wine

How to make Spicy Beef Beans (or Chili Beans):

1 To begin, we peel the onion and cut it into julienne strips. If we prefer not to find pieces of onion in the chili beans with meat, we’d better chop it into brunoises (small pieces). In a frying pan put oil and bring it to the fire. When hot, add the onion and fry.

2 Meanwhile, wash the red peppers, remove the stem and the seeds from the inside and cut them into strips. Add them to the pan along with the onion and a splash of white wine and let them cook until they are almost done, stirring from time to time.

Tip: You can also put a red and a green pepper in the Mexican-style chili con carne.

3 We add the minced meat when the peppers are almost done and we also put the Worcestershire sauce, the pepper and the hot paprika. Mix well and let cook, stirring occasionally.

Tip: If you don’t tolerate much spicy, lower the amounts of Worcestershire sauce and use sweet paprika. If, on the other hand, you love it, season it to your liking!

4 As soon as the meat is almost done, add the chili beans (along with their spicy sauce), mix well and cook the beans with the minced meat for a few more minutes so that they heat up. Taste and rectify salt if necessary.
