  • 4 white fish fillets
  • 4 pieces of Nepal
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of Pepper
  • 4 pieces of aluminum foil

How to make fish mixiotes with nopales:

  1. In the following image you can see the ingredients that we will use to prepare our delicious fish mixiotes with nopales.
  2. We are going to start our preparation of Mexican mixiotes, chopping the nopales into small rectangles, once ready; we place them in a saucepan with boiling water and let them cook for approximately 15 minutes over medium heat. Once ready, we drain the water and reserve the cooked nopales for a moment.
  3. Meanwhile we take the chills, wash them, open them to remove the seeds and devein them perfectly.
  4. Now, in a saucepan with boiling water, place the clean chilies and let them soften for approximately 6 minutes
  5. Once this time has elapsed, remove them from the water and place them in the blender, along with the garlic and onion, add the chicken broth powder and a splash of the water in which the chills were soaked, then proceed to blend until obtaining a homogeneous sauce for the fish mixiotes with nopales.
  6. Once our sauce for the Christmas mixiotes is formed, we place it in a saucepan with previously heated oil and let it cool for approximately 5 minutes, season with a little salt and pepper.
  7. Meanwhile we take the pieces of aluminum foil and begin to form our bags for the Mexican mixiotes: for this we fold the piece in half, on the edges we begin to fold towards the center in order to close the bag, the upper part We leave it open since we will put the fish and nopales on that side.
  8. Once the frying time of the sauce has passed, we remove it from the heat, place it in a deep bowl and place the fish in the sauce so that it marinates and has a better flavor, we let it marinate for approximately 30 minutes.
  9. After this time, we put the fish inside the aluminum foil bag; we also added nopales, and a little more sauce.
  10. Now, our aluminum bags are well sealed, we place them in the steamer saucepan and close it perfectly well so that our fish mixiotes and nopales cook very well, we let them cook over medium heat for approximately 30 minutes
  11. After this time our Christmas dish will be READY! We can enjoy these delicious fish mixiotes with nopales accompanied by some white rice with vegetables. Good appetite!
